FLY WITH AFC.
Angel Flight Central (AFC) serves people in need by arranging charitable flights for access to health care or other humanitarian purposes. AFC's Volunteer Pilots fly passengers who reside in the central and upper Midwest. Your gift of flight as a Volunteer Pilot is an investment in the lives of others who truly need your assistance. By sharing your time, talent and resources to help children and adults obtain health care not available in their home community, you are providing “hope” and “help” when it's needed most.

Flights for Medical Needs
AFC provides flights for passengers who cannot afford their own transportation, have compromised immune systems, need oxygen on board, or have a condition that restricts them from flying commercially.
Length of Flights
AFC Volunteer Pilots fly one-, two-, or three-leg flights of approximately 300 nautical miles each. Pilots with larger higher-speed aircraft may choose to fly more than one leg of a mission.
Compassion Flights
AFC flies special needs kids to attend camp; disaster response missions to relocate families or transport small cargo; wounded warriors reuniting with their families; and parents who need to access a sick child in the hospital.
Types of Aircraft
Any category, class and type of aircraft may be used for AFC missions, with the exception of experimental or light-sport aircraft. Most pilots own or have access to aircraft with 4-6 seats. Aircraft must be airworthy as defined by FARs.
Charitable Tax Deduction
When coordinated through AFC, the expenses for flying charitable flights are tax deductible. AFC Pilots fly under Part 91 of the FARs. Expenses cannot be charged to or shared with passengers.
Liability for Flights
Passengers sign a liability waiver prior to boarding. The liability is the same for Part 91 non-commercial flights. The pilot and the aircraft must meet AFC Requirements.
PILOT QUALIFICATIONS.

At least 21 years old

Provide transportation at no cost as an in-kind donation.

FAA Private Pilot Certificate, minimum.

Medical Certificate or BasicMed, as defined by the FAA.

Instrument Rating required

(A) 250 hrs. PIC and 500 hrs. Total Time or (B) 250 hrs. PIC & FAA Commercial Certificate.

(A) 8 hrs. logged as PIC in previous 90 days or (B) 2 hrs. logged with CFI in previous 90 or (C) 4 hrs. PIC in previous 30 days prior to any AFC flight in category, class and type of aircraft flying AFC passengers.

(A) 25 hrs. logged in single-engine or (B) 50 hrs. logged in multi-engine, turboprop or jet; in each category, class and type of aircraft flying AFC passengers.

Assure aircraft is airworthy as defined by the FARs.

Carry $1 million total with $100,000+ per seat liability insurance or equivalent Non-Owned Aircraft Liability Policy, if aircraft owners policy does not sufficiently cover you as a pilot.

Complete AOPA Air Safety Institute online course: Public Benefit Flying.

Pilot self-certifies meeting all FAA & AFC requirements when requesting a flight.

Pilots 80 years & older agree to have a safety pilot (less than 80 years old) on board any AFC flight as part of a two-pilot crew. Verify safety pilot's flying credentials.

Submit proof of all documents required within 30 days of application.
